To help you maximize savings, Lunar AI makes a custom energy plan for your home every day. It considers your utility rate plan and local weather, as well as your unique energy consumption patterns.
As a result, your battery doesn’t just follow the same routine day after day. Lunar AI automatically decides how to put your stored energy to work based on what will create the most value. Sometimes that means holding onto energy for later; other times, it means using that energy to power your home or sending it back to the grid.
In 2025, Lunar System owners saved an average of $338 more with Lunar AI than they would have using a standard battery self-consumption mode.
Backup power that makes every watt count
Battery capacity matters during an outage, but so does how you use it.
The Lunar System works with Eaton AbleEdge smart breakers to help prioritize the things you need most. Non-essential loads, like a pool pump, can be set to automatically turn off when the grid goes down, preserving energy for essentials like lights, Wi-Fi, and your refrigerator.
In the Lunar App, you can also see how long your backup power is expected to last as your energy use changes. And with Outage Watch, your system can automatically enter Outage Prep mode when severe weather is detected, prioritizing a full charge before the storm arrives.
Get more from every ray of sunshine
Every time electricity changes between DC and AC, a little energy gets lost along the way. Lunar’s DC-coupled design reduces those extra conversions, allowing more of the solar energy your panels produce to make it into your battery and eventually power your home. This can increase usable energy by 2% or more compared with an AC-coupled system.
The Lunar System also optimizes each solar panel individually, so shade or lower output from one panel doesn’t reduce the performance of the others.
Earn money by supporting the grid
Your battery can be useful to more than just your home. Through a virtual power plant (VPP), groups of batteries can work together to support the electric grid when demand is high. Eligible Lunar customers can participate in available VPP programs and get paid for sharing some of their stored energy when it’s most valuable. In 2025, participating Lunar customers earned an average of $464 through VPP programs.

Because every home is different, Lunar’s modular architecture lets homeowners choose from 15 to 30 kWh of battery capacity. This allows the system to be sized around your energy needs without taking up more room than it needs to.
