What’s the process for getting a Lunar System installed?
Getting a Lunar System
Find an installer
A network of Lunar Certified Installers sell, install, and service Lunar Systems throughout California. Fill out this form, and we’ll connect you to one of our certified partners to take you through the next step.
If you have an installer you like, but they don’t carry the Lunar System yet, drop us a note at hello@lunar.energy, and we’ll try to add them to our certified installer network.
Review a proposal
Your installer will ask for information about your home, electricity usage, and goals. Depending on your home, they may need to come to your house for a site visit. From there, they’ll build a proposal for you to review. That proposal will include the cost of the entire system and installation, as well as expected savings over the lifetime of your system. Once everything looks good, you’ll sign a contract with the installer.
Permitting
After signing a contract, your installer will build plans on your behalf to submit to a local building permitting office. That office will review the plans, make any alterations needed, and approve your project.
Installation
Once your installer has a permit, you’ll be scheduled for installation. Installation of a Lunar System with solar is usually completed in a single day, but depending on the amount of work required, it could take a few days.
Permission to operate (PTO)
After installation, your Lunar System will operate in a pre-PTO mode. It will provide backup in the event of an outage, but won’t be able to send energy back to the grid. Other modes, including Lunar AI, will become available after your utility grants you PTO. This can take a few weeks, and up to a couple of months, depending on your utility.
Enjoy endless clean energy
Once you have permission to operate, the process of getting a Lunar System is complete, but the fun is just beginning. Use the Lunar App to see how much energy your home is making, using, and saving for later. Watch your savings pile up, and manage power outages so you’re never in the dark.
