You can see the value of your Lunar System by going to the Insights page in the bottom navigation.

At the top of the page you'll see your all-time value since your system received PTO, broken down into three components:

• Savings: an estimate of how much you've saved by using your own solar and battery energy instead of drawing from the grid, based on your rate plan.
• Lunar AI savings: This estimates the additional savings from your battery operating in Lunar AI mode compared to self-consumption mode. Lunar AI savings are only available from February 2026.
• VPP earnings:  earnings from your Lunar System's participation in Virtual Power Plant programs. Payments will be sent via email through our payment partner, Tremendous.*

*If you’re part of a program that’s not managed by Lunar Energy then you won’t see your earnings in the app.

Tapping the ‘All time system value’ card will take you to the Value page, where you can see a monthly breakdown of your Lunar System's value.

If your system has been installed for more than a year, you can swipe between years and toggle individual value components on and off in the chart.

You must have a rate plan added for your site to see your value pages. Go to the Settings and ‘Utility details’ to add your rate plan.

Most common FAQs

Why aren't my savings matching my bill?

Lunar System savings are estimates based on the information available to us. Some discounts or charges on your bill may not be captured in our calculations. Please check that you've entered the correct tariff in the app. Note that we include credits as monetary savings, which may not be fully reflected at your annual true-up.

What's the difference between "savings" and "Lunar AI savings"?

"Savings" show an estimate of how much you've saved by using your own solar and battery energy instead of drawing from the grid, based on your rate plan.

‍"Lunar AI savings" estimates the additional savings from your battery operating in Lunar AI mode compared to self-consumption mode. Lunar AI savings are only available from February 2026.

Why are my savings low?

Savings can be low for a number of reasons, including low solar production, multiple off-grid events, or your system operating in backup or self-consumption mode. In some cases, system faults can also affect savings. If you're concerned, please contact us at support@lunarenergy.com.

Why can't I see my savings for the current month? 

We calculate savings on a monthly basis. Savings for the current month will appear after the first week of the following month — so May savings will appear in early June, for example.

Why are my Lunar AI savings low? 

Lunar AI savings tracking became available in February 2026. If your savings look lower than expected, it is usually due to one of two reasons:

• Your Battery Mode: If your system is currently set to a mode like Self-Consumption, it will prioritize powering your home over earning export credits. You can also see the percentage of time spent in Lunar AI mode on the Insights screen by scrolling to the monthly savings card. You can easily view and update your battery mode on the Battery Settings screen by scrolling up on the home page and tapping the battery card.

• The month: Lunar AI savings are highest during months with peak export credit values. For Net Billing Tariff customers, this typically happens in June, August, and September.
  

Note: During months when export credits are worth less, the AI will automatically default to keeping power in your home (Self-Consumption). This is actually the smartest, most cost-effective move for your system at that time, even if it means your "AI savings" total doesn't climb as fast.

‍Why don't I see any VPP earnings?‍

VPP earnings only appear if you've participated in a VPP program operated by Lunar. Earnings are calculated at different frequencies depending on the program, please check your programs FAQ section to understand when you can expect your earnings. Payments are sent through our payment partner, Tremendous. If you’re part of a program that’s not managed by Lunar Energy, then you will not see your VPP earnings in the app.
